Cold Fusion Reactor Claims Doubted By Naysayers
Cold fusion, the holy grail of physics, promises a practically limitless supply of clean energy. Cold fusion is a nuclear reaction that is considered a fable by the contemporary physics organization. That makes no difference to Italian entrepreneurs who claim to have developed a cold fusion reactor for commercial use. No doubt they took out significant personel loans to make this take place.
Cold fusion contradicts identified laws of physics
Cold fusion was dismissed as junk after a pair of physicists announced in 1989 but nobody else could replicate the results. Cold fusion is still considered theoretically impossible, however Italian researchers Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi exhibited a cold fusion reactor at the University of Bologna last Friday. They claim their gadget generates power via cold fusion, but they can’t explain precisely why. There was a rejection when they applied for a patent. This is as the accepted laws of physics did not work with their theory. But they are confident a commercial cold fusion reactor can be developed in as little as three months.
Comparing cold fusion and nuclear fission
The sun creates massive amounts of energy with nuclear fusion. In order to make cold fusion, the atomic nuclei of nickel and hydrogen are fused with each other at room temperature, says Rossi and Focardi. The reaction produces copper and a lot of energy in the form of heat. Nuclear fission is the energy created by atomic reactors and nuclear weapons as the atoms are split in order to release a lot of power with toxic waste and radiation. Only 400 watts of power is needed to make 12,400 watts according to the Italians that believe in cold fusion. They promoted a commercial version of their cold fusion reactor could produce eight times more power than it takes to operate. The cost of the cold fusion power would be relatively cheap. In fact, about 1 cent per kilowatt-hour would be charged. The United States had mostly coal generated power in the United States in 2004. This meant about 7.62 cents per kilotwatt-hour was the average.
Coming to a power plant near you
There was a paper on cold fusion that was written by Rossi and Focardi. The peer-reviewed journals refused to accept it though. They created their own online journal “The Journal of Nuclear Physics,” and published it themselves. They say the flicking of a switch and following instructions is all it takes to operate a cold fusion reactor. An authorized dealer would have to refuel the reactor every six months. There has been interest shown. A Greek utility business has shown this.
