Alleged Cold Fusion Reactor Exhibited By Italian Scientists
The endless provision of green power promised by cold fusion has yet to become a reality. Mainstream physicists don’t believe a nuclear reaction via cold fusion is possible. That fact hasn’t stopped some Italian scientists from saying cold fusion is a reality that is ready for commercial applications. No doubt they took out significant personal loans to make this occur.
How cold fusion impacts laws of physics
The results of Cold fusion were first announced in 1989 by a pair of scientists. Nobody could replicate the results meaning it was simply dismissed. Cold fusion is still considered theoretically extremely hard, however Italian scientists Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi exhibited a cold fusion reactor at the University of Bologna this past Friday. They claim their gadget generates power via cold fusion, but they can’t explain exactly why. Since there was not enough of a theory confirming this with the laws of physics that are accepted, their application for patent was rejected. They say it will take as little as three months in order to make a commercial cold fusion reactor.
Comparing cold fusion and nuclear fission
The sun creates massive amounts of energy with nuclear fusion. In order to make cold fusion, the atomic nuclei of nickel and hydrogen are fused together at room temperature, says Rossi and Focardi. Lots of heat power and copper could be produced. Toxic waste and radiation are released with power when atoms are split causing nuclear fission. This is just what atomic reactors and nuclear weapons do. The Italians said their cold fusion reaction utilizes just 400 watts of power to generate 12,400 watts. There could be eight times the energy created than it takes to operate with the commercial version of the cold fusion reactor. Their cold fusion power would cost about 1 cent per kilowatt-hour. The average cost of coal generated power within the U.S. in 2004 was 7.62 cents per kilowatt-hour.
Arriving at a power plant near you
Peer-reviewed journals rejected a paper on cold fusion that Rossi and Focardi wrote. They published it themselves in an online journal “The Journal of Nuclear Physics” that they created. They say operating their cold fusion reactor is as simple as flicking a switch and following the instructions. An authorized dealer would have to refuel the reactor every six months. There has been interest shown. A Greek utility business has shown this.
