Write a letter to your local government to improve the safety and conditions of bike lines and public transportation so you can get to work in a more environmentally friendly way. Bring a healthy organic lunch to work instead of buying processed meats or fried fast food. Not only will you feel better and more energized throughout the day, but you will be helping our environment too. You can also be supporting your local economy by buying fruits, veggies, dairy, eggs, and meat from local farmers nearby. This reduces production and transportation costs often associated with big distribution companies.
Old computers, cell phones, and batteries make up a large portion of our trash output. The dangerous toxins and chemicals found in these products seeps into the ground and into our drinking water, and has ultimately taken a toll on the environment. If disposed of properly or recycled within the community, this problem is easily eliminated. When cleaning, avoid purchasing products with chemicals with unpronouncable names. Invest in natural cleaning products, or even make your own. Baking soda, rubbing alcohol, and vinegar are amoung the many household items that can be used for cleaning, and recipies are available all over the internet.
